Church Government
As a Presbyterian church, Providence is governed by a session: men scripturally qualified and chosen by the congregation to serve as presbyters or elders (1 Timothy 3:1 - 7; Titus 1:5 - 9). Importantly, these officers teach, shepherd, and adjudicate, guided by the Book of Church Order, a constitutional document of the Presbyterian Church in America. In tandem with an elected board of deacons (1 Timothy 3:8 - 13), the Session also oversees fiscal matters, the safety and maintenance of the church campus, and addressing the mercy needs of church family and local community.
